Heart Nebula
Webster Presbyterian Church
Webster, Texas
Architect: Bay Area Architects
8 ft. diameter
For this congregation with NASA connections (former member Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon) the designs present God as creator of the cosmos. Images from the Hubble telescope inspire a series of nebulae windows, one of which incorporates a slice of asteroid from outer space.

Mirroring Frederick Buechner's observation that our human bodies comprise the "stuff of stars," the nebulae in paired rose windows reveal the forms of hands, feet, and faces.

In the altar window a heart shaped nebula surrounds the architecturally-provided cross. Below, a crescent moon evokes the Church as reflector of Divine glory. Blades of grass evoke of the brief beauty of human life while ears challenge worshipers to hear the words of Christ.
